The restaurant-hôtel managed by Georges
Wenger is situated in the centre of Le Noirmont, close to the station,
in a location appreciated by visitors with a passion for trains. You
are just 40 minutes by car from Neuchâtel, Bienne and Delémont,
1 hour 15 minutes from Berne, Basle and from Lausanne.
The village has 1,600 residents; it is the second-biggest village in
the Franches-Montagnes region after the main village, Saignelégier,
which proudly boasts some 2,000 residents. As you will have appreciated,
in these areas ‘demographic stress’ is a relative concept.
The region, which forms one of the three districts in the Jura canton,
is largely agricultural. However, watch-making is the most important
economic activity: here, you are situated on the axis of "Watch
Valley", which runs right across the Jura. Since the 18th century,
this has been the land of high-precision.
